Just days removed from my viewing of the original Men in Black film, I thought it best to invest my time in to its sequel to resume my role as one of agent Jay’s supporters in his battle to protect Earth from the Universe. And, what I found was a picture that exceeded its original in almost every way.

5 years on from Men in Black, MIBII (2002) truly benefited from the advances in CGI and was truly able to establish that which its predecessor struggled to - believable aliens.

That being said, the film was still incredibly self conscious and ready to make jokes about itself and its genre at every possible opportunity. A talking dog and some cigar smoking worms truly illustrated this and really heightened the enjoyment of this feature.

The story was simple enough. Agent Jay (Smith) had to help restore Agent Kay’s (Lee Jones) memory in order to rid the world of the evil Serleena (Lara Flyn Boyle) and her sidekick Scrad (Johnny Knoxville) whilst establishing a love interest in the form of Rosario Dawson.

Simply put, it managed to exceed its predecessor in story, graphics, events and even cameo’s (Michael Jackson in this case).

Truly the best of the two I’ve seen thus far and a highly recommended film to anyone who’s a fan of self conscious comedy and some fun filled sci-fi action.

The guy on the left had to be modeled after a vagina. That’s clearly a clitoris.
